Coach Colleen Burke

In 2019 we welcomed Coach Colleen for her Inaugural year as Edison Girls' Volleyball Program Director and Varsity Coach. Edison is in Coach Burke's blood! She graduated from Edison in 2005, playing Varsity all 4 years as a Charger, including CIF Champion, Sunset League Champion and Dave Mohs Tournament Champion. During her Edison High School career, Coach Burke was a 3-time All-Sunset-League honoree, a 2-time All-CIF honoree, 4-year Scholar Athlete, Dave Mohs Tournament MVP and  State Tournament semi-finalist. Coach Burke was also an accomplished club level player, and was a Bronze medal finisher in 18s Open Division Junior Olympics, and placed second at Festival in the 16s division.

Coach Burke continued her playing career at San Jose State University, where she was a 4-time All-WAC Conference honoree including first team All-WAC and All-WAC tournament team.She was also a member of the 1,000 Kill Club and had the 2nd all-time hitting percentage in school history.

Coach Burke has over 10 years of coaching experience. She started her coaching career at Surf City Volleyball Club (2009-2012), followed by City Beach Volleyball Club (2013-2018) coaching several Power and Regional teams of various age levels, in 2013-2015, her 15-Black team qualified for JOs. She also coached at the high school level including as JV coach at Presentation High School, JV coach at Pinewood High School and Varsity Assistant Coach at Huntington Beach High School in 2010 when they were a CIF Finalist.

Coach Burke also teaches English, currently at Ocean View High School, and previously at Edison (2018-2019) and Willow Glen Middle School (2012-2018).

She is honored to be part of the Edison Chargers Girls' Volleyball program to continue its tradition of excellence.
